Polish Masters is heading for the end. Today, on courts situated in Niechorze, women finished their tournament in the pouring rain. In morning semi- finals, Kolocova/Slukova from Czech Republic and Borger/Büthe (Germany) turned out to be better.

In the first semi- final, tie- break was essential to decide about the result. German duet Gernert/Brink-Abeler lost 10:15 and bronze medal game was the one what left them to play.

The second semi- final was very lucky for German duet Borger/Büthe who won with Wesselink/Meppelink from Netherlands and got promotion to the final where Czech duo, Kolocova/Slukova was Whiting for them.

Meanwhile, in men’s tournament, players competed in the third round of main draw. Kaczmarek/Walkenhorst won after tie- break with Czech duet Dumek/Tichy. The second set of this game was the most exciting: finally it was won 21:19 by Dumek and Tichy. However, they didn’t manager to concentrate in the end of the match and lost tie- break 10:15.

The bronze- medal game ended after the most exciting tie- break today. Dutch team, Wesselink/Meppelink won third set and could be very happy about bronze medals.

Fial match ended in two sets. German team, Borger/Büthe won 21:17 and 21:17, winning the whole tournament. Silver medals went to Czech Republic: Kolocova/Slukova.

“I am very happy about gaining gold medals. We improved many elements of our game, which was visible and helped us with winning the event. Also the atmosphere here, in Niechorze is great. The one and only disadvantage is the weather- it’s really hard to play in such rain.”- said Karla Borger at the press conference after the final match.

Silver and bronze medalists were also very proud about the results. “We are really glad that we achieved this third place. It was different tournament because of the weather but we like it. Niechorze is a beautiful place and volleyball too. We played many games in a few days but now we are happy. Congratulations for winners. “- commented Marloes Wesselink.

“It’s a big success that we got silver medal. The atmosphere is of course great. We had not much time to prepare for this competition that’s why we are more cheerful. We made a lot of work to achieve this success. “- said Kristyna Kolocova.

“Great game, I think the atmosphere was fantastic apart from the rain. I felt very well in this place and that’s for sure I will be miss it…”- added Britta Büthe at the end.

Apart from crucial games of women’s tournament, men were still competed in the main draw. And in this part of the tournament, Polish fans had a reason for enjoying the day, despite tragic weather. Polish duo Popek/Wieczorek won with Babich/Ioisher from Ukraine after long and exciting three-sets-match.

Turniej Polish Masters powoli dobiega końca. Dziś rywalizację na boiskach w Niechorzu zakończyły kobiety. W porannych półfinałach lepsze okazały się Czeszki Kolocova/Slukova oraz….

Do rozstrzygnięcia pierwszego półfinałowego meczu konieczny był tie- break. Niemiecka para Gernert/Brink-Abeler uległa w nim duetowi z Czech 10:15, zamykając sobie tym samym drogę do finału.

W drugim półfinale górą okazała się ekipa z Niemiec. Borger/Büthe pokonały po dwusetowej walce holenderski duet Wesselink/Meppelink, awansując do finału, gdzie czekała już na nie para z Czech: Kolocova/Slukova.

Oprócz kobiet, w strugach deszczu rywalizowały ze sobą także pary męskie. Poranek przedostatniego dnia turnieju okazał się bardzo szczęśliwy dla polskiego duetu Popek/Wieczorek. Biało- czerwoni po dwusetowej rywalizacji pokonali Turków, Sekerci/Gögtepe. W pierwszym secie Polacy gładko rozgromili przeciwników, wygrywając do 16. Druga odsłona przyniosła więcej emocji, jednak w końcówce ponownie lepsi okazali się reprezentanci naszego kraju, pokonując turecką parę 23:21.

Mecz o brązowy medal dostarczył kibicom niesamowitych emocji. Najdłuższy dzisiaj tie- break zakończył się zwycięstwem Holenderek, Wesselink/Meppelink, które cieszyć się mogą z trzeciego miejsca w turnieju.

Zmagania kobiet zakończył mecz finałowy, wygrany po dwóch setach przez Niemki, Borger/Büthe. Pokonały one duet z Czech, Kolocova/Slukova, zapewniając sobie zwycięstwo w turnieju Polish Masters.

„Jesteśmy bardzo zadowolone z wygrania turnieju. Cieszą także wygrane mecze i nasza dobra postawa podczas całych zawodów. Jedynym minusem jest pogoda- bardzo trudno gra się w deszczu. Poza tym jednak turniej był dobrze zorganizowany, a Niechorze to piękne miejsce!”- powiedziała na konferencji prasowej Karla Borger.

„Drugie miejsce bardzo nas satysfakcjonuje. Przyjechałyśmy tutaj z zamiarem zdobycia medalu, co nam się udało. Cieszą także dobre mecze w naszym wykonaniu. Poprawiłyśmy kilka elementów gry, co przyniosło efekty.”- dodała Kristyna Kolocova.
